Minimally invasive cardiac surgery

edited by Robbin G. Cohen ... [et al.] ; illustrator, Kimberly Battista

Minimally invasive coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB) is an alternative to conventional surgery. Performed off-pump, the endoscopic approach offers patients many favourable advantages, such as a shorter hospital stay, more rapid recovery and reduced pain. This book illustrates MIDCAB and other less invasive procedures, also covering areas like training, anaesthesia, patient selection, instrumentation and the economic impact of endoscopic surgery. Each operative procedure is accompanied by colour drawings and photographs plus early information on outcomes.
