This report presents the second phase of a larger research programme investigating co-ordination in child protection in the UK, funded by the Department of Health. It is primarily an exploratory study based upon an extensive postal survey of 339 practitioners (general practitioners, health visitors, paediatricians, specialist police, social workers and teachers) drawn from three diverse locations in the north of England. Topics covered by the questionnaire include data relevant to respondents' experience of child protection, and an enquiry into their experience and evaluations of child protection procedures in their area.
